A Jacob's Ladder is the type of high voltage "Traveling arc" display

Description: Take two Electrodes and mount them vertically in a slight "V" shape, with the narrow part at the bottom. Connect each wire to a High Voltage Transformer.
The voltage is high enough to form an arc, completing the circuit. Through convection, the arc rises up the long wires, maintaining a connection. When the connection breaks, another arc is formed at the bottom to repeat the cycle.

Notes : A traveling-arc device is very dangerous. The transformer at the base of this apparatus generates High voltage.
