The basic principle behind this experiment is electromotive force (EMF)

Material required: 2 Bar Magnets, 2 equal springs, 2 Wire Coils (core is just large enough for the magnets movement), String, connecting wire, Stand etc.

Description: Suspend each of the two springs to the Stand. Attach the two bar magnets to the bottom of the springs using string or wire. Two induction coils are joined together by connecting wire and set far apart. Position the bar magnets, so when the spring is displaced downward, the magnet extends into the coil.

A first magnet moving in a coil of wire generates an electrical current. This current is transmitted to the second coil. An electrical current flowing in the second coil exerts a force on a magnet, which causes the second magnet to start moving.
